Makaay and Bayern prepared to face Erzgebirge Aue

"We're determined to repeat last year's triumph," Roy Makaay declared ahead of Tuesday training in Munich. "We're playing better and better, and we intend to continue where we left off last week," the striker added, hopeful of ending an 814-minute barren spell in front of goal.

Bayern will not take Wednesday's German Cup second round tie lightly, but the holders travel to face Erzgebirge Aue in confident mood as the Bundesliga leaders clash with the side lying 12th in the second division in a classic David v Goliath encounter.

"I'll keep on doing my thing," the Dutch ace insisted, "but the result is far more important than Roy Makaay." The 30-year-old had not lost sleep as a result of his goalscoring drought, he insisted, nor would the midweek opponents disturb his sweet dreams "provided we maintain the attitude we've shown in the last two matches. We need to go for it from the off, create scoring opportunities, and leave nothing to chance."
