Makaay scored again in another Bayern victory
Defending champions Bayern Munich got their second successive triumph of the Bundesliga season with a great 2-1 win at newly-promoted Bochum Sunday. It was an expected victory, and it helped Bayern move to third place in the table behind leaders Nuremberg and Werder Bremen, the only other teams with maximum six points. For Bochum it was a second successive defeat following a 2-1 loss at Mainz on the opening day of the season.
The most important fact of the game was that Dutch striker Roy Makaay, who scored in Bayern's 2-0 defeat of Borussia Dortmund last week, was again on target with an opening goal two minutes before half-time.
We also must mention that defender Philipp Lahm hit a 65th-minute winner for the visitors after Bochum had equalized in the second half through Fabio Junior.
In the day's other match, VfB Stuttgart bounced back from a 3-0 defeat at home to Nuremberg, to defeat Arminia Bielefeld 3-2 despite ending the match with nine men after two red cards.
And on Friday, Nuremberg defeated Borussia Moenchengladbach 1-0, while Werder Bremen earned a 2-1 win against Bayer Leverkusen Saturday.
