Makaay is not going to Barcelona
Despite all the rumours, Barcelona have responded to reports linking Roy Makaay with a move to Camp Nou.
In fact, the Dutch striker is reportedly attracting attention from the Catalan club following the serious knee injury suffered by Samuel Eto'o.
Of course, any deal could not take place before the January transfer window opens and Roy Makaay is cup-tied for the UEFA Champions League and would be ineligible for the holders.
Nevertheless, press reports claimed the former Deportivo La Coruna marksman was a target for fellow countryman Frank Rijkaard.
"Barcelona will definitely not strengthen any more," commented Txiki Beguiristain, the sports director.
"We are very content with the footballers that we have" he concluded.
