Bayern Munich prepares to the Bundesliga debut
It was a good debut. Defending Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich cruised to a 12-0 friendly win against local amateur side TSV 02 Berching on Friday as their preparations for the 2006/07 season began in emphatic style.
In fact, only 10 professionals reported for the start of pre-season training this week with most of Felix Magath's team being away on World Cup duty or sidelined with injury.
However, Bayern still produced a commanding performance with new signing Daniel van Buyten scoring just nine minutes to open his account for the Bavarians while Claudio Pizarro (2) and Roy Makaay were also on target.
We can say that even goalkeeper Michael Rensing was able to get in on the act as he played the last half-hour as an emergency striker as several reserve and youth footballers were given some action.
It's important to remember that Bayern's Bundesliga season starts with a home clash against Borussia Dortmund on Friday, August 11.
